Anastacia Merrigan is an associate lawyer at Hicks LeMoine Law in both Amherst, NS and Sackville, NB. She received her law degree from University of New Brunswick in 2016, and was admitted to the Nova Scotia bar in June 2017, and the New Brunswick bar in September 2017.

She focuses her family practice on conflict resolution, through interest-based negotiation, with a goal of coming to a solution that fits everyone. She is an advocate for mental health and LGBTQ+ community, and adopts an inclusionary approach to client intake.

Angela holds her law degree from UBC and a Masters degree from Dalhousie University. Angela practices exclusively in the area of family law. Angela has expertise in all aspects of family law, including complex asset division. Angela is settlement-oriented and believes strongly that the best outcomes for families are achieved outside of a court process.

Barbara has been trained in the Collaborative Law model since 2006 which assists couples in resolving the potential disputes resulting from their separation in a respectful and compassionate way. This process involves getting to know each spouse’s most important needs and through co-mediation helping them reach agreements that meet each of their needs. The process of reaching these agreements provides an incredible learning experience for parents to communicate effectively about their children long after the lawyers are no longer involved. Barbara is very cognizant of the expense of separation and divorce; she believes that the collaborative family law process “is the best bang for your buck”.

Catherine is a graduate of St. Francis Xavier University and holds a B.A. Honours in Political Science.  Following graduation, she spent five months working for a Peruvian non governmental organization.  Catherine then moved to Vancouver and completed her Master’s degree in Political Science and her Law degree at the University of British Columbia.

Christine is a partner at MDW Law in Halifax and practices solely in the area of family law, with a particular interest in the business and financial aspects of separation. Christine is a believer in the collaborative process. She presents the option to clients as an effective way to resolve family matters in a non-adversarial manner. She has actively and successfully represented clients who have chosen collaborative family law. Christine served on the executive of the Association of Collaborative Family Law Professionals of Nova Scotia from 2010 to 2014, including two terms as president.

Daniel has practised family law for over 30 years, shepherding his clients through what can be a difficult time of conflict. He is trained in collaborative family law and is an executive member of the Nova Scotia Association of Collaborative Family Law Professionals. Daniel has also served as chair of the Family Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association, Nova Scotia branch.

Doug has practiced family law in Dartmouth since 1983. He employs a full range of dispute resolution techniques including litigation where necessary (in Courts throughout Nova Scotia and also in Newfoundland and in New Brunswick).

Erin is an associate lawyer at Wells, Lamey, Mailman and Bryson in Chester, Nova Scotia.

Erin received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Dalhousie University in 2012 and her law degree from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in 2016. Erin was called to the Nova Scotia bar in 2017.

Erin enjoys a general practice with a focus on family law.

Erin is a volunteer with the Nova Scotia Family Court Parent Information Program.

Janice has been practising family law since 1989.  She is committed to helping clients resolve difficult issues by providing candid, practical advice and representation.  Janice advises clients on separation agreements, marriage and cohabitation contracts, child custody and access, spousal and child support, divorce and division of assets.

Jennifer has been practicing primarily family law since joining Casey Rodgers Chisholm Penny Duggan LLP in 2012, and is able to offer assistance in all areas of family law. Jennifer is trained in both collaborative family law and mediation. Jennifer strives to help people avoid the emotional stressors of an adversarial court process that puts the decision in someone else=s hands. Jennifer believes that a more interdisciplinary approach that includes other professionals who bring their insight and expertise into the mix has immeasurable value in family law matters. Jennifer is also an active volunteer with the Canadian Bar Association, co-chair of the CBA-NS Women=s Forum, a member of the child and family services committee, and the Supreme Court Family Division Liaison Committee.

Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Dalhousie University. She practices primarily in the area of family law, and represents clients in cases involving custody, access, support and division of assets. While Jennifer is completing her collaborative training, she uses the alternative dispute resolution training she has already received in her practice as much as possible.

Kim has been practicing family law and estates law in Nova Scotia for over 15 years, and is a conflict management specialist.

She has extensive training and experience in mediation, negotiation and collaborative law, and is currently working on her LLM through Osgoode Hall Law School, specializing in Alternative Dispute Resolute.

Laura holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Dalhousie University. She practices primarily in the area of family law, and represents clients in cases involving custody, access, support and division of assets.

With a primary practice in Family Law, Mallory prides herself on her ability to help clients navigate complex and emotional issues smoothly and efficiently. She enjoys thinking outside the box, and finding creative solutions to fit each client’s unique situation.

After receiving her JD from Dalhousie’s Schulich School of Law in 2014, she articled at a downtown Toronto law firm. After being called to the bar in Ontario in 2015, she was also called to the bar in Nova Scotia later that year. She considers herself very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to return home to Nova Scotia and develop a career as a family lawyer.

Being an active member of the community is a role Mallory values and prioritizes. She is a member of the Collaborative Family Law Professionals of Nova Scotia, the Canadian Bar Association, the Pictou County Barristers Society, and volunteers with the Nova Scotia Family Court’s Parent Information Program. She also is an active volunteer with the refugee initiative group, Pictou County Safe Harbour, Refugee Sponsorship Support Program, and Big Brother’s Big Sister’s.

Marion holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Dalhousie University and a Certificate in Negotiation and Conflict Management from Henson College and Dalhousie University.

Marion is a practicing member of the Nova Scotia Barrister’s Society and is self-employed as a sole practitioner with specialized training and certification in the area of Conflict Resolution including Mediation (Certified Mediator), Conflict Management and Collaborative Law.

Meghan was born and raised in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Meghan obtained her law degree in 2004 from the University of New Brunswick after first obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Francis Xavier University in 2001. Meghan joined EMM Law in 2015 and has a general practice background and thus is able to provide clients with excellent advice over a broad range of legal issues.

Meghan is a past executive member of the board of the Antigonish Golf and Country Club, a past member of the St. Martha’s Hospital Foundation and is currently on the board of the Antigonish Women’s Resource Centre.

Meghan lives in Antigonish with her husband Andrew and their two young children.

Ms. Rideout has recently completed the full training in Collaborative Law and Interest Based Negotiation and is a member of the Association of Collaborative Family Law Professionals of Nova Scotia and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.

Nicole’s practice focuses primarily on family law. She is a trained collaborative family lawyer and mediator. Nicole encourages her clients to engage in alternative dispute resolution whenever possible. She truly believes that interest-based negotiation leads to the best solutions for families. The collaborative process means that the participants have an opportunity to be heard and share their interests and concerns in a respectful and cooperative setting, which the traditional adversarial court process does not offer.

Nicole earned her LL.B. from the University of New Brunswick in 2011 and was called to the Nova Scotia Bar in 2012. She is an active member of the Canadian Bar Association and is a member of the executive of the Association of Collaborative Family Law Professionals.

Sandra holds a Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie University and a Diploma in Negotiation, Mediation and Conflict Resolution from St. Mary’s University. She focuses her practice in the areas of Family Law (child custody and access, child and spousal support and division of assets), Wills & Estates and Elder Law.

Tabitha attended Dalhousie University and the University of Victoria to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Dalhousie University. She has practiced law on the South Shore of Nova Scotia since 2008, primarily in family law, real estate and estate planning. In family files, Tabitha’s focus has always been on working with her clients to help find solutions that work without the need for going to court. Tabitha was trained in collaborative family law and interest-based mediation in 2017.
